Car Rim Sizes and Materials

Rims and tires have been around for a while but continue to become more and more popular because of the way they can enhance look, performance, and uniqueness of your ride.

When it comes to the world of rims there’s a whole range of options you’ll have when choosing your new wheels including price, rim sizes, customization, style, weight, and more. In this article we’ll discuss the important aspects of car rim materials and sizes.

Car Rim Sizes
When it comes to rims sizes there is a huge range and it’s important obviously that you choose wheels that are compatible with your car. Typically wheel sizes will start around 13 inches for smaller cars and go all the way up to around 22 inch rims and even 26 inches for larger automobiles. There are also very big rims being produced these days as custom rims and tires for trucks, jeeps, and SUV’s become more and more popular. When it comes to rim sizes there is also something that you’ll hear called “plus sizing”. Plus sizing refers to upping the size of your cars wheels in relation to the tire. Not only can plus sizing add visually to your ride but it will also add greater handling and give you better control when turning corners.

Materials Used for Car Rims
Some of the most common rim materials being used to produce wheels these days are alloy or chrome. Alloy rims are great for driving in the city and alloy is by far the most popular material being used on the wheel market today. One of the main benefits of having alloy rims is that they are very light which provides you with a sense of agility when driving. Then you have chrome wheels. Chrome is the popular choice when it comes to making cars stand out due to the shininess and sparkle they give off in the light. Chrome wheels look great and are easy to look after but well designed chrome rims will come with a pretty hefty price tag –better start saving them greenbacks.
